Why this exists
This started as a couple of computers in a spare room and got out of hand.
Now it's where our photos get backed up, and where the Minecraft world lives. That's the one my sons and their friends play on.
No subscription, no ads.

If your child plays here
The short version: it's invite-only, and I'm on it too.
Nobody can join unless I add their username by hand. It isn't listed anywhere public, so there are no strangers wandering in. Everyone on the server is a friend or family.
My own two sons play on it, and so do their friends. As the person running the server, I can see what's happening on it.
The rules are simple: be kind, keep it clean. If someone's out of line, or anything happens that shouldn't, message me and we'll sort it out.
And if you'd rather ask me some questions before saying yes, please do.
The day job
Software engineer since 2008. It's what I do all day, so the same habits that keep things running at work keep this running at home.
Married, two sons. They use all of this too, which means I notice quickly when something breaks.

What that means for your stuff
You're trusting a person rather than a company. Here's what that means in practice.
- Your account is yoursEveryone gets their own login. I have admin access to the machines, like staff at any service you use. I don't go looking through your stuff.
- Nothing is tracked or soldNo ads, no analytics, nothing leaving the house. I'm not running a business here.
- It lives hereHardware I own, in my house. Not rented space in someone else's cloud.
- Backed up, but keep your own copyEverything's backed up. Still keep a copy of anything you can't replace. Same advice applies to Google.
- Straight answersIf something's broken I'll tell you what broke and roughly when it'll be back.
- Ask me anythingIncluding how it works. I don't mind the questions.
